After a career as an electrical engineer, Diana started pursuing her passion for fine art and illustration in 2006. She was juried into
her first Vermont show the Spring of 2006 and has actively
pursued painting ever since. Diana has been commissioned to do children and pet
portraits and asked by a local poet to illustrate her work. She has become a contributing member of local art associations, holding offices and helping with webpage development and integrating art with technology.
During engineering college and graduate school,
Diana taught herself how to draw by studying and
copying the Masters’ drawings. Her drafting and technical background was excellent for drawing architecture and portraits. Diana also studied photography and setup her own darkroom for developing
and enhancing black and white photographs. Today,
she uses her computer knowledge to "develop" her photos
and study composition and lighting.
Diana believes composition is key to conveying the "story" behind drawings and paintings. She spends hours taking photographs, studying paintings,
and drawing detailed pencil studies in order to capture
the inspiration she feels. Diana is always amazed at what can be seen or felt using a simple piece of paper, pencil, or palette of colors.
